Waterlines, a series of works commissioned by the National Water Commission on key water issues, recently published its sixth occasional paper: Water Allocation Planning in Australia: Current Practices and Lessons Learned. This report is an analysis of the current water planning practices in Australia, drawn from 11 case studies of water plans.
The report provides an important and timely benchmarkof significant processes, approaches, scope and content for comparison across catchments and jurisdictions, and outlines significant opportunities for the development of improved approaches and for improvement in water-planning practices nationally.
